an instructional framework that doesn’t sit still

This is for teachers who…

  • Need a clear system for planning and instruction

  • Want to increase engagement and achievement

  • Have energy, ideas, and instincts- but need structure

  • Care about culture as much as content

  • …..are burnt out, but not done

This is not for perfect teachers

What is ACTIVE teaching?

ACTIVE teaching is a real-world instructional framework that blends structure, energy, and intentional practices. It is grounded in countless hours of research and rooted in the proven link between student engagement and academic achievement.

Built by a classroom teacher based on data-proven practices, ACTIVE Teaching breaks effective planning and instruction down into six core practices.

It’s not a guide to perfection- it’s a reflection tool to help you move with purpose, teach with presence, and making your classroom work for you and your learners.

Sit down, we need to talk.

Sit down, we need to talk. 〰️

The Sit Down Series is a chill, honest, and occasionally unhinged space where real teachers submit real classroom struggles and I sit down with them…literally…to see if ACTIVE Teaching can actually help. Or if she needs a glow-up.

This is not about fixing everything. I am not claiming to be the queen of education. It’s just a space to face what’s really going on in our classrooms like professionals and humans and silly, silly gooses.

ABOUT ME

NOT A GURU. JUST REALLY LOUD & OBSESSIVE

My name is Hannah!

As you see on the right image (that I will never not share)- I recently graduated with an Educational Specialist in Teaching and Learning. My program focused on researching student engagement and truly ignited a passion.

I have been teaching for 8 years! In those 8 years I have been fortunate enough to be in a social studies, elementary mathematics, remedial mathematics, middle school mathematics, and even one high school course classroom! Also fortunately, I have been in my favorite spot (8th grade math) for the last 3 years. *Cheers for Women in STEM*

I knew I would be a teacher, but I avoided it for a long time. I did not want teaching to be my personality or strip me of my personality. But I have found a way to bring my personality into the classroom and produce results. (You know when a child signs your yearbook ”I never knew what to expect in your classroom” you’ve done something right.)

Outside of the classroom, I am a mom x3 and a wife. Even though I am a math girly, reading is my favorite thing to do. Especially if the book has fairies or witches.
